2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel P26AB Coolant Bypass Stuck
Not much to write about this one. I got a new code today – P26AB. My reader simply says read the manual, which doesnt tell me anything. P26AB, however leads to the Engine coolant by pass valve being stuck.
Its about a 25/30 minute job to do. I really should get better at grabbing pictures, but the job was so straight-forward you’ll know exactly what was going on.
From what I’ve read, its the same code/part location for the ED as well as the V8. the V6, idk.
What you’ll need –
- channel-locks/pliers
- flat-head screwdriver
- hose clamp/pinch tool
- Prep to have easy access –
- unscrew the hose clamp on the airbox side of the MAF/intake line
- remove top of intake airbox
- remove the bottom of the airbox – no screws, just rubber grommet. You can get the whole thing out in one pull, even with the horn being all weird
- You should now have complete and easy access to the valve.
- (you can also unscrew and move out of the way, the intercooler/cold line to get it out of the way)
- unplug the harness to the valve
- pro tip – use hose clamp tools to pinch the lines closed to keep from belching too much coolant
- using pliers (or small socket trick), unhook the valve from the mount plate – plastic clips
- using pliers, slide the hose clamps for the hoses up the line and out of the way
- reverse steps plugging back in everything with the replaced part
